PLEASE JOIN US ON THE OFFICIAL SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE!
Spring 2012 semester saw:
(1) recognition of a College-level Ad-Hoc Committee on Sustainability by the Office of the Dean and the Council of Chairs as an official committee within the committee structure of the College and the University. This event represents the first official college-wide action of the Lurie College to address sustainability systemically. This committee is also the first college-level sustainability committee at SJSU.
(2) adoption of a set of commitments to serve as a broad strategic plan for sustainability by the faculty and staff of the College. This event represents the first democratically adopted (e.g. by vote) college-wide sustainability plan at SJSU.
If you are interested in shaping sustainability efforts in the college, consider joining the committee. Of significant interest to tenured and tenure-track faculty, service on this committee is equivalent to service on any of the other available college-level committees, and thus can be included as evidencing service in RTP dossiers! Email [email protected] for details about how to volunteer your service on this committee. Click here to read the committee's charge.
The strategic plan is based in large part on a set of guidelines and recommendations for reorienting teacher education programs to address sustainability published by UNESCO in 2005. (Download the UNESCO document here).
